What's the difference between an advertising agency and a designer? While both take care of the communication of the client their historical background still is determined. Agencies (the former advertising space salesman) still are payed by a percentage of the campaign budget and direct the message through emotion and mass-media to the consumer in order to improve a short-term sales profit. Designers (the graphic artists from the past) are rewarded as is usual in a free profession by hourly or honorary wage. They use the visual media functionaly and artisticly justified in order to communicate as efficient as possible the message or product of the client with a short and long-term vision in mind. It is common that they use more ideas than emotional content.
